So those of you reading the Blazing Minds blog will have seen the Donate Box on the right of the screen, this was for my sponsored walk up Snowdon here in gorgeous North Wales.
So yesterday was the big day and myself and my friends Sue, Ben and Christian started our journey in an attempt to climb the picturesque mountain in Snowdonia all in aid of the Abandoned Animals Association.
A Slightly Early Start
So at 7am I picked up everyone in my Mini Cooper and headed over to Snowdonia for our walk, we arrived at Pen-Y-Pass car park at around 8am, peering through the fog we saw that the car park was full, oh no! Now what!?
Never fear, just down the road there is a section where you can “Park and Ride”, we parked up the car, waited for the bus, which only cost a £1 per person and headed back to Pen-Y-Pass car park to start our walk.
We were taking the Miners Track which later joins on to the Pyg Track, which is situated towards the back of the car park, we geared up, went through the gate and set on our way along the path.

The mist was quite dense as we made our way along the path and even when we got to the Llyn Llydaw (reservoir) the mist was slowly lifting, but it was still quite spooky.

But as we carried on passed the Britannia Copper Mine, it was clearing up nicely and it became an absolutely gorgeous day.

After a steady walk up a climbing path we arrived at Glaslyn, a rather inviting lake, at this point the walk became a climbing and clambering exercise as from this point onwards its a steep, treacherous and gruelling climb up steep rocks and a path that really takes it out of your legs.

It was at this point that it seemed I wouldn’t be able to go on after a whole of rock climbing and very steep paths, my heart was racing and I thought I would have to stop and let everyone down!

But after a break I was able to go on, but yet again further up I would be in the same predicament, after a little encouragement from my amazing friends and the thought of letting down the charity, I kept going, stopping often to catch my breath and slow my heart down, taking it all in my own pace.

So as I carried on, I heard the train going up just over the ridge, then saw it through a slight break on the mountain ridge, “That’s it, I want a photo of that damn train and a bottle of coke!”, so I carried on and got to the train track.

At this point a woman walking past, told me I had a big massive grin on my face, I couldn’t help myself I gave her a big hug and said “I’ve made it” She must have thought I was a right loon
Once you come across the train track it’s only a short distance to the summit, but it was so busy up there, people pushing you out-of-the-way to get photos on the highest point and just not giving a damn about anyone else!

So it was in to the cafe, bought a bottle of Coke and started our descent, which took half the time it took to get up

First of all I would like to give a big thank you to Sue, Ben and Christian for taking the time and coming with me on the charity walk, it was wonderful to have the guys with me and to have their support to help me complete this rather grueling journey.
Second, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that kindly donated whatever they could to the sponsored walk, it’s thanks to you guys and gals that we have managed to raise some money for our four-legged friends at the Abandoned Animals Association.
